Wandsworth Chamber of Commerce has expanded its activities during the past year, with many events and partnerships. The Wandsworth Business Awards reached their fifth year, with huge support from the community.

Over the year there were hundreds of well-attended events, including the Beermat Mondays - networking for entrepreneurs, the NextinTech conference organised by Wandsworth Digitech, and numerous business breakfasts and other productive gatherings of people in one of the most dynamic business boroughs in London.

Steve Pinto, CEO of Wandsworth Chamber of Commerce said, “We are putting lots of effort into promoting businesses in the borough, both existing and startups, so we all can benefit from having a critical mass of companies in the area.”

In 2018 The Take One Young Person project will swing into high gear. It is a challenge for Wandsworth businesses to ‘Take One’ young person – to provide work experience, an Internship, a Traineeship, an Apprenticeship, support a volunteer placement or through mentoring, a young person to help them gain experience and further their career.

Wandsworth Party to launch new food vendors
Picture
Wandsworth Foodies had a party in a bank this week. Of course it had to be the Metrobank Clapham Junction, they seem pretty cool about people eating and drinking there, although upon entry, I was mistaken for someone who wanted to open an account. No, I'm just here for the cakes mate.

Organised by Wandsworth Foodies it was well-attended, with yummy edibles, wine and soft drinks. There was a whole raft of developing food vendors. Some were at a later stage than others but they were aiming to get feedback from potential customers, so there were plenty of savouries, sweet things, and sauces to try out.

Soraya Lavery, co-organiser, said, “A big thank you to our food traders who did an amazing job. The variety and quality of food was incredible. They worked tirelessly all evening and provided the food free of charge.”

The event was organised by Helen Roberts and Soraya Lavery of Wandsworth Foodies/Digitech, and supported by Metro Bank, Councillor Kim Caddy and Wandsworth Chamber of Commerce.
