Chamber member celebrated as community hero by Rt Hon Sadiq Khan MP

On 19 November 2009 Rt Hon Sadiq Khan MP welcomed 17 Community Heroes from Tooting at Portcullis House in Westminster to receive a coveted award.  Sadiq said, "Whenever I travel round the country on Government business, I always speak about Tooting with pride; about how, through hard (and often unsung) work and good leadership, we have become a case study of strength in diversity and mutual respect."

Guests were treated to a surprise address by Rt Hon Jack Straw MP Secretary of State for Justice and Lord Chancellor.
