Since holding our first public exhibition last summer, we have spent nine months reviewing comments made by the public, and engaging with Wandsworth Council, the local community, the Greater London Authority, English Heritage and many other organisations about our plans for the site.

Over 14,000 people attended our first exhibition, and we received positive feedback. Over two-thirds of respondents to our questionnaire supported our plans.

We are now ready to hold a second public exhibition, at which we will explain the changes made to the masterplan in response to the comments received. The exhibition will be held on Thursday 4th, Friday 5th and Saturday 6th June at the Power Station (see overleaf for details), and I would be delighted if you could attend.

Rafael Viñoly has made a series of significant improvements to his Masterplan, which we believe will result in the creation of a truly fantastic place that will become the heart of the regenerated Nine Elms area. Rafael has focused on making sure that the site will become one of London’s great neighbourhoods, with beautifully designed public spaces surrounded by a dynamic mix of uses. He has improved the routes into the site, and improved its relationship with the surrounding area and other development sites in Nine Elms. He has also responded to concerns about the scale of the Ecodome and height of the Chimney in the previous masterplan.

In recent months, we have made excellent progress in our discussions with Transport for London and London Underground about plans for extending the Northern Line into Nine Elms. We have undertaken a series of detailed studies, which have demonstrated that it is an extremely viable, feasible and sensible solution to the transport issues of the area.

In conjunction with the neighbouring land owners in Nine Elms, there is huge potential and enthusiasm for regenerating this part of Battersea. With Wandsworth Council, we have recently held a very successful event attended by over 300 investors, business leaders and politicians, to promote the opportunities for investment in Nine Elms.

We are continuing to ensure that the restoration and upkeep of the Power Station building is ongoing while we are planning for the future, and we are pleased to report that the first phase of the remedial works on the Power Station is now complete. The Power Station building remains central to our proposals with the intention to convert the iconic structure into offices, shops and restaurants. We want it to be brought back into everyday use and make it accessible to the public. We also remain committed to delivering a low carbon development, so that the environmental impact of the site is greatly reduced.

I hope that you are able to attend our exhibition and, as before, tell us what you think about our current proposals. Real Estate Opportunities is committed to ongoing consultation with the local community, and will maintain dialogue with residents throughout the planning process and into the construction phase.

Kind regards

Rob Tincknell, Managing Director, Treasury Holdings UK
